The original ten pence coin was introduced in 1968. In 1992 it was reduced in size and this is still in use today. It is made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, is 24mm in diameter and weighs 6.5gm. There are approximately 1,587 million 10p coins in circulation. In 1968 a ten pence was know as two bob and would wield some heavy duty spending power, you could buy almost all the sweets in the tuck shop, (including those cola bottles) and still have change for a Dandy and a Beano! Now sadly ten pence will buy you.. er well actually we can't think of anything.. Wait, at AW we can sometimes do the impossible. See below for our latest 10p Special. Happy shopping..
