(GPSR)

At Ancient Wisdom, we are committed to supplying safe, compliant products and providing our wholesale customers with the information they need to sell confidently.
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) (EU 2023/988) came into force on 13 December 2024, replacing the previous General Product Safety Directive.
Although Ancient Wisdom is a UK-based wholesaler, many of our customers sell products throughout the European Union (EU) and Northern Ireland (NI). We therefore continue to update our products, packaging and documentation to help customers meet the requirements of the GPSR where applicable.
Selling in the UK
If you sell products in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), the GPSR does not apply.
Products placed on the UK market must continue to comply with the relevant UK product safety legislation.
Many of the product labels, safety information and documentation we provide are suitable for both the UK and EU markets, helping retailers who sell across multiple countries.
Selling in the European Union and Northern Ireland
If you sell our products into the European Union or Northern Ireland, the GPSR may apply to your business.
The regulation introduces additional requirements for product traceability, safety information and economic operators responsible for products placed on the EU market.
To support our customers, we continue to update our product information and provide the documentation required where applicable.
Products Placed on the Market Before 13 December 2024
Under the transitional provisions of the GPSR, products first placed on the EU market before 13 December 2024 may continue to be sold, provided they complied with the previous General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC).
Where possible, we are also updating these older product listings with additional information to make compliance easier for our customers.

What Retailers Selling into the EU Need to Include
If you sell products within the EU or Northern Ireland, your product listings may need to include:
Manufacturer name and contact details
EU Responsible Economic Operator (REO) details (where applicable)
Product identification information
Safety warnings and instructions in the language of the destination country
CE marking where required
Requirements may vary depending on the product type and the country in which it is sold.
Our Commitment
We continually review our product information to ensure it reflects current legislation.
For new product ranges introduced after 13 December 2024, we include the relevant compliance information wherever applicable. We are also gradually updating our existing ranges to provide the same level of information.
