The Very Large Money Cat is made to get noticed. Its oversized gold figure, raised left paw and large ingot give it a strong prosperity theme, while the traditional red and green details add plenty of colour. A striking piece for customers looking for a lucky gift or business symbol.

This is the big one for customers who don't believe in doing things by halves. The left paw moves continuously, using the traditional beckoning gesture associated with attracting people, customers and good fortune. The cat is also shown holding a large gold ingot, reinforcing the themes of wealth and prosperity.

The large Chinese character on the ingot means good fortune or blessing, making it a familiar symbol of prosperity and good wishes. The four characters on the raised paw are a traditional auspicious phrase meaning roughly "attract wealth and bring in treasures". They are commonly used as a New Year or business blessing.

That makes it a particularly good gift for a new business, shop opening or someone starting a new venture. Or simply for the person who already has everything, except a very large golden cat.

Please note: Battery compartment does not have a cover and also does not have an on/off button as it is designed to wave constantly. Batteries not included.

Which Money Cats should I try first? +

A small group works better than a solitary cat. Start with boxed solar cats for the till, a choice of colours and one or two larger waving styles to give the display some height. Add a money-bank design for customers looking for something practical.

Do all the cats have a moving paw? +

No. The range includes solar-powered and battery-operated waving cats, alongside fixed-paw money banks and decorative figures. Check the individual product title before ordering—the money banks save coins but do not wave them in.

Will the solar-powered cats work inside my shop? +

Yes, provided they receive enough light. A bright window, counter or well-lit shelf is best; a gloomy corner may leave them looking rather less enthusiastic. Try the display position before deciding that a cat has gone on strike.

Are batteries included with the battery-operated cats? +

No. Different models require one or two AA or AAA batteries, so check the individual listing. Some are designed to wave continuously and therefore have no on/off switch or battery-compartment cover; this is intentional rather than a missing part.

Where should I display them? +

Near the entrance, till or front window—traditionally the places where a Maneki-neko beckons customers into a business. Leave enough room around moving paws and place a few colours and heights together; the movement is far more noticeable when customers can see the cats as they approach.

Are they Japanese or Chinese? +

The Maneki-neko is Japanese in origin, although it became widely adopted in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chinese communities around the world. These cats are made in China, and some designs carry Chinese good-fortune characters alongside the familiar Japanese-inspired form.
