The Classic Money Cat is the familiar golden Maneki-neko, traditionally associated with attracting wealth and good fortune. Its raised paw is constantly waving, making it more than a static ornament and giving this popular symbol a bit of movement and personality on the shelf.

The raised left paw is the important detail here. In the tradition of the Maneki-neko, the lifted paw is a beckoning gesture, traditionally associated with attracting customers, opportunities and good fortune. This particular cat also carries the Chinese characters commonly translated as "inviting wealth and bringing in treasure".

The combination of gold, red and green gives this version a deliberately prosperous look, while the moving paw make it more playful than a purely decorative statue. It is the sort of object customers can buy because they like the symbolism, the appearance, or both.

The Classic Money Cat makes a particularly natural gift for new businesses, shop openings, housewarmings or anyone starting something new, where the idea of welcoming prosperity fits rather nicely.

Please note: Battery compartment does not have a cover and also does not have an on/off button as it is designed to wave constantly. Batteries not included.

Which Money Cats should I try first? +

A small group works better than a solitary cat. Start with boxed solar cats for the till, a choice of colours and one or two larger waving styles to give the display some height. Add a money-bank design for customers looking for something practical.

Do all the cats have a moving paw? +

No. The range includes solar-powered and battery-operated waving cats, alongside fixed-paw money banks and decorative figures. Check the individual product title before ordering—the money banks save coins but do not wave them in.

Will the solar-powered cats work inside my shop? +

Yes, provided they receive enough light. A bright window, counter or well-lit shelf is best; a gloomy corner may leave them looking rather less enthusiastic. Try the display position before deciding that a cat has gone on strike.

Are batteries included with the battery-operated cats? +

No. Different models require one or two AA or AAA batteries, so check the individual listing. Some are designed to wave continuously and therefore have no on/off switch or battery-compartment cover; this is intentional rather than a missing part.

Where should I display them? +

Near the entrance, till or front window—traditionally the places where a Maneki-neko beckons customers into a business. Leave enough room around moving paws and place a few colours and heights together; the movement is far more noticeable when customers can see the cats as they approach.

Are they Japanese or Chinese? +

The Maneki-neko is Japanese in origin, although it became widely adopted in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chinese communities around the world. These cats are made in China, and some designs carry Chinese good-fortune characters alongside the familiar Japanese-inspired form.
