Apart from last year which was pretty much cancelled, the last day at AW has become a kind of family tradition. Like any family we do the same things, traditions that have become baked in.

Lucy always orders the pizza, Ula always distributes the secret Santa presents, we always exchange Christmas greetings with other parts of AW, everyone is tidying up to leave things spick and span for next year.

Later this afternoon we will open a few bottles of wine and gather for pizza and toasts, a group photo must be taken and then I will make a short emotional speech - in which I will thank everyone for there hard work and contributions to AW.  In dribs and drabs everyone will leave clutching a small gift box of chocolates and wine from AW. Usually the last to leave are Tomas, Katka and Phillippe (Katka's husband). Another year at AW over.

This year is of course like that but also nothing like that.. half of the team are not here, Omicron has taken lots of people (into isolation) this year..  fortunately no-one is seriously ill, most have no or very mild symptoms. I don't know what your experience is like, but I hope the same.. maybe Omicron is a good thing, distributing antibodies like a natural vaccine with only minor side effects. One can imagine the flat panic in the board-rooms of the vaccine companies.

Let's hope and pray that this is nature's Christmas Present to humanity.

Of course it is always important to stay humble, and thankful, and be grateful.
