The rain in Spain..
Fri Dec 09 2022 22:35:00 GMT+0800 (Malaysia Time)

Greetings from Malaga..

Shortly I will be travelling (with our man in Spain; Toni) to the UK.. for lots of things but the immediate one is the AW Christmas party.
Last week I had just arrived in Spain and was telling you about the creative folk of Indonesia, and speculating that Creative types are generally nicer people.
I arrived exhausted from my trip to Indonesia.. and this week have been busy recovering and catching up with developments at AW-Artisan our Spanish company.
It's been raining in Spain.. a lot - flash floods and massive black thunder clouds.. I even had trouble getting out of my house this morning.. The front garden had flooded and the road outside turned to a small lake.

I arrived in Spain last Friday (36 hours travelli) and that same evening headed out to the AW-Artisan Christmas party in a very nice restaurant in central Malaga. Of course there was excellent food and wine and even better company.. We had a delightful time with plenty of little speeches and everyone was grateful and happy to work for AW.. eventually between the main course and the desert it was my time to give a speech.. By this time I'm a little frazzled and jetlagged and slightly tipsy.. but the speech went down well - I thanked them for their hard work all year and wished them the best for the future and didn't forget to mention that right now they are my Favorite Team..

Our group picture.. can you spot the sleep deprived Englishman?

The other evening here in Spain I visited my local bar to watch the football with my neighbour Allen.. It was Spain against Morocco - and eventually Spain lost.. You can imagine how that went down..
Anyway.. tomorrow evening (strikes and weather permitting) I will be in Sheffield for the AW and AW-Aromatics Christmas party.. and as it happens it coincides with the quarter final between England and France.. So that should be interesting.. I'm not really a football fan but I'm always interested to watch people watching football - all those tribal instincts kicking in..

I'm happy to see that more products arrived from Indonesia.. particularly the 2 million year old petrified wood candle holders.. These are really collectors pieces and in limited supply... (see below)
Regular readers might remember our trip to a village in Central Java where we met a delightful couple with a small business producing products from the local gemstones mined nearby..Natural River-stones, real onyx, local marble and rare petrified wood. I'm delighted those products are now here and available.

Now Christmas is upon us.. I hope the season is treating you and your business well..
I know you are super busy - so this week's news is short and sweet..

Stay calm and be happy..

More news next week.
