David's AW News: Home for Christmas.
Fri Dec 08 2023 13:39:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)
Greetings from Sheffield..
Yes I'm back in the UK.. at AW HQ..
I flew back from Malaga to Manchester on Tuesday with Katkta and James who had been in Spain. We arrived from sunny Spain to a rather chilly but still sunny UK.. The journey over the Pennines to Sheffield was stunning, cold clear air and winter sun and the Derbyshire countryside is spectacular.
Coming Home for Christmas.
I have spent the first days at AW-Aromatics.com where it's all happening. We revamped the team about six months ago and now there is no stopping them.. new products (especially the Whipped Soaps) have really really changed the game.. Dusan the production manager, has been showing me how they solved the production process.. meaning we can make them cost effectively. Rather clever use of sausage making machines to make the whipped soap. I'm impressed. And I sat in on the Thursday product development meeting, and I can tell you there are lots of beautiful, on trend, innovative products just, itching, bursting to be released to the world.
Last week I was telling you about the travel plans for next year and how Christmas properly is kicking off.. If you missed it you can catch up here.
So James and Katka came from the UK to bond with the Spanish team and to attend the AWArtisan.eu Christmas party.. sadly I had a nasty bout of flu and had to opt out and missed it. I was just thinking that since I had my first covid jab, I have not had a cold, not even sniffles in four years.. I never (to my knowledge) had covid either so a bit of bad luck. But now I'm ok and looking forward to the UK Christmas party which is themed 1970's just my era, so should be fun.
I was looking around the showroom in our Affinity Park HQ.. it had a big re-merchandise with all the new products from India, Nepal and from AW-Aromatics beautifully displayed. I got quite emotional seeing all our hard work, every product comes with a story behind it, each one has taken creativity and effort from different AW team members.. Every product has some small family business, artisans.. who have worked hard - sometimes all night - to meet deadlines to get the goods to us. I'm so proud of our product ranges now.. I really believe we have the best selections right now in the history of AW.
My absolute favorite product has just arrived in the UK.. it's the next in our Hop Hare range of products.. Designed by our talented designer Sandra in Sheffield, with input from Tomas, and editing from me.. It's a concept candle range.. with a story behind each candle and beautiful artwork and packaging. Coco produced it in our own candle factory in China using only top-end elements.. soy-wax, wooden wicks, natural botanicals, green glass jars, fine fragrances (selected by my nose). The love, devotion, emails, wechats, sample packs, revisions and Sandra's uncompromising determinatuin to make it awesome.. has.. (I believe) paid off.. And a total AW team effort.
Last time I was in China, I was with Coco hunting for botanicals in the dried flower market and seeking out the raw crystals in the gemstone area of Yiwu. No expense has been spared to make this happen..
They arrived in our EU warehouse a few weeks ago and are already our best selling candle line.. by far.. an epic response from customers and almost immediate reorders.. we have sold out of some references already and people are actually fighting for stock, getting quite upset.
Here's Sandra..
Introducing.. The Lovers, The Magician, The Moon, The Devil, The Sun, The Lion, The Knight of Swords.. Check out the Hope Hare Crystal Floral Candles.
See below for more details..
Anyway.. there is lots more to come..
It's all happening at AW..
I hope you are trading well in the run up to the big day.. not long now.
Have you been following our 12 Days of Christmas? Just a few more days to go...
Tomorrow is our AW Christmas party.. full update next week.
It's the penultimate weekend before Christmas..
Have a wonderful jolly weekend.
