Getting Creative

Greetings from AW HQ Sheffield.
It's now 41 days since the fire at AW, and still no meaningful response from the insurance company, although they are starting to thaw.
Banks, local council, insurance and property agents.. all seem to be moving slowly, soooo slowly.
While on the other hand, our suppliers and the staff at AW have moved like the wind. Under immense pressure they have made so much happen - I'm proud of them and impressed.
Imagine one minute working out of 45 thousand square feet, and the next 14 thousand square feet.. and needing to do twice as much to recover.
Last week I was telling you about Gentle Giants and Angels at AW - you can read about it here.
Every day some new equipment arrives for production, the electricians are here full time wiring things up, every day another product group goes into production. Dushan and Neil are running around like demented bee's organising people and machines.
See below for all the items back on line this week. This my friends is a really heroic effort, you have no idea how many stops have been pulled, all of them and then some more.
Meanwhile at the other end of the building James & Kane are trying their level best (and succeeding) in getting blood from stones.. whereas before we had twelve packing bays and a dropship department, now we have two bays and a dropship corner. Running shifts is part of the answer, but lots of problems are addressed with creative thinking, containers outside, persuading the shipping company to leave us a trailer we can fill with finished orders. Jacob is a superstar, he is the dispatch coordinator and another guy working crazy hours and looking frazzled. Goods in are no less stressed, some of Indian shipments arrived, the team are juggling space to find picking locations, inventing new racking configurations.. I'm impressed at the inventiveness.
All this has been done, whilst wearing face masks and social distancing. Well done guys.
Visitors that come here are genuinely flabbergasted at the pace of progress.
So you can imagine, it's kind of distressing (for us all) when a customer posts two bad reviews for the same order - not because of anything we did, but because the courier company was slow. (You know who you are!).
If you would like to encourage the team and lend us your moral support (and many of you have sent amazing messages already) why not post a good review Reviews.co.uk - Thank you :)
When people pull together it's amazing what can be achieved. Take heart from this.
Good news for the gift trade.. face masks are selling like hotcakes, and we have just received another shipment..
In other news Netflix new documentary "(Un) well", features Essential Oils, the essential oils themselves are given good press but some companies' dodgy MLM methods are exposed. AW essential oils are mostly in stock. Maybe a good time to stock up.
A new idea!
Hopefully we will be moving to a new warehouse soon. For the first time in years we should have more than enough space.
Which may well enable one of my pet ideas to happen. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this..
It's called: AW-Community - basically it will allow you to (show and sell) your own products to Ancient Wisdom's (considerable) database of customers across Europe. Say you have something you make, or import yourself, that you know sells well - send us the stock in bulk, we will store it in our warehouse and ship it when customers order. Every-time someone orders, you'd get an email notification and we'd send you money less a commission. Customers could order whilst ordering other things. It would be B2B only, so you would need to be able to offer your products at wholesale rates. Obviously there would need to be some T&C but you get the basic idea. I suspect there are thousands of great products out there just waiting to be given wings.
Lots of new products from India here this week. When India went into lockdown, all these products got blocked, now they are starting to flow again..
It's a similar story with all our Nepal shipments - we are expecting lots to arrive in early September.
So I hope you can have a nice weekend, take care, stay safe, wear a mask (an AW one!), be kind and stay calm.
