We’re working hard to dispatch orders as quickly as possible following a recent system change. Please allow 3–4 working days for dispatch while we complete the transition.

Plan B & Some Good News
Fri Jul 24 2020 17:38:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)
Greetings from Sheffield.

Day 21 of the road back to recovery and resurgence.

This new normal is anything but normal for me. The view from my office window is like something from one of those end of the world movies. Block B.. burned out and still crumbling down. Every now and then something comes crashing down.
It's painful to see, it looks like the biggest monster of a problem any company could face - a massive insurmountable problem. And yet, and yet the team here at AW are really sleighing that monster.
Last week I was telling you about my very strange journey from Indonesia to the UK.. you can read about it here.

We were basically closed for one week, by day 7 we had a dispatch and CS departments running, by day 14 production restarted.  Kane (our big guy) goods in manager, and James (our hardest worker) warehouse manager - have motivated and led their teams, working 12 hour days to make this very tight space work, night shifts and long hours. Everyone is pulling together!

We have containers arriving all the time, a China one just came.. with new products. It's now day 21 and we are adding more products every day.

I have been investigating our future warehouse.. and seen some big beautiful sheds. But doing a deal will take time, and all the legals and paperwork.. well just a bit hard work.

So we have two plans.. Plan A and Plan B.. both involve expanding our production department in the three units we have here..
Plan A - is to find a really big place that can last us the next ten years, and think big and bold. And move PDQ. We have found three potential places.. but the numbers are huge and Brexit looms, while COVID rumbles on..
Plan B - is to find a temporary home, we have a couple of options.. and let our lovely landlord (Keith) re-create block B as big as possible.. there is the possibility to buy some extra land behind. We could be back within 12 to 18 months..
It's hard to plan, because 21 days after the event the insurance company still didn't brief us. Some big guy in London is still deciding..

Improving the view..
Looking out of the window is painful.. but soon the demolition company are going to take it all away for scrap.. this will make me feel better :)  and we should have a different view down the valley.
Our new warehouse I feel should have offices with a nice view.. it's high our criteria ..

We sent the money raised on GoFundme.. to Mr Chatterjee.. in India. It's probable enough to provide 5000 meals. Thank you.
Mr Chatterjee has been feeding people in his home town area.. thousands of meals. He tells me that the situation in India is really bad. Random lock-downs, panicking officials, poor people unable to find doctors.  His factory is working - under super high safety standards at least providing some employment. But only alternate days, as the local government thinks this is a good idea.
The good news is that one of the children in the children's home we support came top of the class in exams. As we supply English, art and computer teachers.. it's an amazing and satisfying result.
No orphan has ever had such a good result. The news even made the Kolkatta news. Mr Chatterjee went to the home to personally congratulate him.

It's a bit of good news.. in difficult times.

You can still support the good work of Mr Chatterjee.. here: GoFundMe.

Meanwhile, back in Sheffield, we are working round the clock (yes actually) to ship your orders. I want to say thank you for supporting us.. and gradually we are catching up with the orders.
Lots of new products arrived.. see below.
Aromatherapy products are quickly coming back online.. some fragrance oils.. and some beautiful new candles.

Stay safe, have a good weekend.
Wear a mask!!
