Even here things have been opening up a bit. The beach reopened so I can walk again for exercise. Sadly all the hotels are still closed and the few small businesses.. bars and restaurants are now bankrupt or given up. So very few businesses trading there. 

There is an English owned restaurant on the main road, and I had heard they was serving English Sunday Lunch.. roast beef and Yorkshire puddings.  It's about 40 minutes walk, normally I'm not to bothered by the expat bars, why travel if you just want to recreate home. But the thought of Sunday lunch with all the trimmings.. (oh yes!) It was lovely the owner is friendly, and he was totally surprised to be full.. and like old times.. no, or little social distancing that I could see, staff masks had slipped under chins. People chatting, children running around.  I guess the same will be happening in England this weekend. 

Here it Covid rates are (officially at least) very low and few deaths for the size of the population. Just 16 in a population of four million. But the infection rate doubled in 2 weeks since lock-down rules relaxed. Let's hope the same doesn't happen in Europe.

Ringo's niece got married. He comes from a village inland in an area called Bangli.  I was formally invited to the wedding and then uninvited by the village elders. Regulations only allow twenty people, and Ringo explained that I was off that list. Don't worry I told him, I understand. He took pictures.. Only 20 people in the wedding compound, but outside the walls of the compound the family paid for a roast pig meal and the disgruntled uninvited held their own party. Life in coronavirus Bali..
