Strange noises and haunted house

 Greetings from Ubud, Bali

Sunset in Ubud

It strange weather everywhere these days.. my house in Spain had a snowfall.. never seen that before - I was there only two weeks ago and it was 22c. While here at AW warehouse Bali the temperature hit 40c the other day and today dropped to a chilly 23c..

It's been a busy week rushing around the island catching up with old projects and launching new ones. Last I was hinting at a major new project we have in the offing here on the "Island of Gods" - if you missed it you can catch up here
That project involves renting (or buying) a sizable office space, in or not too far from Denpasar city. I really thought that this would be the easy part, but it seems there are not so many options available. As Ringo keeps reminding me we should have done this in the middle of the lockdown, then there were many closed and broken businesses. Not so now.. business is booming.

As we scoot around Bali or walk the streets of Ubud, I keep hearing a noise.. At first I thought it was in my head. Clackerty clack.. clackerty clack.. strangely sound that seemed to induced flashbacks to my childhood in a Sheffield suburb.
I know that sound but couldn't quite place - everywhere I go I hear it.. maybe I'm going mad.

I could hear the sound but couldn't see where it came from.. then I spotted some kids.. doing that clackerty clack thing.. Do you remember them?  If you are old enough (1970's).. you will. I remember them being a little dangerous, and bruised hands and wrists a consequence of mastering the art.  It's brand new craze that has swept all Indonesia in a matter of weeks.. here they call it "Lato-lato"

This is Ringo's daughter showing off her skills.. It's a classic viral thing.. the noise they make is an excellent free advertising message, and of course every child has to master the skill and do tricks to be cool.

Even Jokowi, the Indonesian president, gave them ago..

The thing is should I get Coco on this? They come from China I'm sure.. and do we want to indulge in this even..
I remember seeing those Solar pal things in India a year before they appeared in Europe, and the fidget spinners in China also..
I'm not sure they are an AW thing.. but let me know your thoughts.. I'm sure they are coming to Europe pretty soon.

Anyway the search goes on for a nice office, the other day we went to visit a property not far from our warehouse on the main road to Denpasar.. the previous tenant met us with the key so we could go and look it over.
The guy was waiting outside and from his accent I thought he was Polish.. I asked him where he was from and he reluctantly told me Ukraine, and from what was left inside was maybe a holiday tour company - now deserted.
It must have been a big company because the space was huge three big floors lots of rooms off them, a big damp basement and a large roof terrace with views to the sea.
A big grand old villa, it seemed a bit sad and haunted.. apart from being too big for our needs - the feng shui just wasn't there..

So we keep looking..

Next week Tomas and Raul will be here (Marketing and IT wizards).. I was hoping to have shook hands on a cool office before they come..

I have to go now.. got another place to view.
And lots of new products already underway.. very excited - the creativity in Ubud already running hot.

Take care.. have a wonderful weekend.
More news next week.
