The Shiva Lingam stone is a sacred stone of both the ancient and modern worlds. They are found in the Narmada River in Onkar Mandhata, one of the seven holy sites of India.

These stones are made of cryptocrystalline quartz and legend has it that they formed when a meteorite fell to earth several million years ago. The natural movement of the river is believed to help create the egg or oval shape of the stones. They're only gathered on one day each year and are hand polished to give them a smooth and gleaming surface. Lingam stones are said to have one of the highest frequency vibration rates of all the stones on earth. They emanate a vibration that will purify your sacred space.

The shape of the stone represents male energy (knowledge) and the markings, which differ greatly from stone to stone, represent female energy (Wisdom). The Shiva Lingam also represents harmony and balance and facilitates the union of opposites, such as masculine and feminine or body and soul. It is excellent for sexual healing. A millenary tradition said that this stones can increase the male sexual power and endurance in unimaginable ways, so use them responsibly.

Is a Shiva Lingam simply another type of decorative crystal? +

Not quite. Shiva Lingam Stones are naturally rounded river stones made mainly from fine-grained quartz material, often described as cryptocrystalline quartz or chalcedony, with distinctive mineral markings. In Hindu tradition, the Lingam is a sacred symbol of Shiva, commonly associated with creation, balance and complementary masculine and feminine principles.

How should I clean Shiva Lingam Stones? +

For normal shop handling, a soft damp cloth is usually sufficient. If a deeper clean is needed, gentle warm soapy water followed by thorough drying is a sensible approach for cryptocrystalline quartz materials; avoid harsh household chemicals and abrasive cleaning.

Do the larger Lingam Stones need special display consideration? +

Yes. The larger pieces are substantial – thy can weigh around 6 kg – so use a strong, level surface and keep it safely away from shelf edges. Because of the rounded shape, check that each stone sits securely before putting it into a customer-handled display.

Does the cotton pouch protect the stone during postage? +

Treat the pouch as presentation and storage rather than protective transit packaging. The stone should still be cushioned properly inside a suitable outer box, especially with the heavier sizes.
