The White Money Cat takes the familiar Lucky Cat and gives it a cleaner, brighter look. Its raised left paw is associated with attracting people and customers, while the large black 福 (fú) character represents good fortune and blessing. A simple symbol with a very positive message.

福 (fú) is one of the best-known Chinese characters associated with good fortune, blessing and happiness, making it a natural symbol for gifts intended to wish someone well.

The left paw is raised in a beckoning gesture, traditionally associated with attracting people, visitors and customers. For a retailer, that gives this particular cat a nice meaning beyond simply “money”: it is about welcoming people in and inviting good fortune.

White is also commonly associated with happiness and general good fortune in modern Lucky Cat colour symbolism, although colour meanings can vary between traditions and makers.

This makes the White Money Cat particularly easy to give as a good-luck gift. It could suit someone moving into a new home, opening a business, starting a new job or simply beginning something new. The message is straightforward: good fortune, happy beginnings and plenty of people coming your way.

And that raised paw keeps beckoning. Hopefully it knows what it's doing.

Please note: Battery compartment does not have a cover and also does not have an on/off button as it is designed to wave constantly.

Which Money Cats should I try first? +

A small group works better than a solitary cat. Start with boxed solar cats for the till, a choice of colours and one or two larger waving styles to give the display some height. Add a money-bank design for customers looking for something practical.

Do all the cats have a moving paw? +

No. The range includes solar-powered and battery-operated waving cats, alongside fixed-paw money banks and decorative figures. Check the individual product title before ordering—the money banks save coins but do not wave them in.

Will the solar-powered cats work inside my shop? +

Yes, provided they receive enough light. A bright window, counter or well-lit shelf is best; a gloomy corner may leave them looking rather less enthusiastic. Try the display position before deciding that a cat has gone on strike.

Are batteries included with the battery-operated cats? +

No. Different models require one or two AA or AAA batteries, so check the individual listing. Some are designed to wave continuously and therefore have no on/off switch or battery-compartment cover; this is intentional rather than a missing part.

Where should I display them? +

Near the entrance, till or front window—traditionally the places where a Maneki-neko beckons customers into a business. Leave enough room around moving paws and place a few colours and heights together; the movement is far more noticeable when customers can see the cats as they approach.

Are they Japanese or Chinese? +

The Maneki-neko is Japanese in origin, although it became widely adopted in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chinese communities around the world. These cats are made in China, and some designs carry Chinese good-fortune characters alongside the familiar Japanese-inspired form.
