Double terminated crystals are naturally faceted on both ends (terminals). These crystals don’t grow on a quartz or sandstone matrix like other crystals do. They form free-floating in clay pockets which is why they have a termination on each end. Sometimes they grow stuck to other crystal points that are attached to clusters. Other times they come in clusters of double terminated points that form in a sort of double terminated ball in the clay pockets.
